how is adrenal function tested and how often is it performed?

I have used prednisone sporadicaly over the last two years and I strongly suspect that my adrenals are not functioning normally since i quit taking the med. I need some input on this issue and would greatly appreciate any and all help…Jan
Jan, I am sure hopefull that your doctor is on top of why you need to use prednisone sporadically over time, anyway clinical indicators of adrenal dysfunction include low blood pressure despite supportive measures to improve, lab values suggestive include low potassium and high sodium, then there are plenty of tests available from random cortisl values to other specific adrenal tests, you want to see your doctor after tryin to read up from webmd.com, mayoclinic.com etc and see what he/she has to say, good luck
